mission and approach

Improv Parenting is a non-profit arts organization offering improvisational theater and visual arts education and family-friendly performances. We facilitate creativity, personal expression, confidence and storytelling in our workshops, classes and maker spaces, and we inspire and connect artists and audiences of all ages through our family-friendly improv shows. Our goal is to build community through shared arts experiences across ages and experience levels, inspiring personal growth and community -building in playful, supportive environments.

Approach & Delivery

While we teach improvisational theater skills and basic visual arts language and techniques, our focus is on process over product and experiential learning through trial-and-error. For us this means providing experiences that are supportive, collaborative, playful and fun.

Improv Parenting offers ‘pop-up’ programming throughout the Twin Cities. We partner with libraries, parks and recreation, non-profits, schools, community education and businesses to increase accessibility to the arts by bringing teaching artists and materials to spaces looking to build community through experiential arts education.
